swamped
We're sorry.
If you've called or stopped, or texted and we haven't responded in a timely manner - we're sorry.
You'd think brain cancer would slow us down - right?
Wrong.
It feels like the entire planet has speeded up rotation. Since they announced the date of his surgery we've had approximately 8 days to:
Finish up our dance season at work; get Rico's business stuff taken care of; move two kids from their current college apartments to new ones - and then home; continue to homeschool Neeks (which I must admit has taken a bit of a backseat) ; take finals; redo our wills; sell our RV; move up dentist and vet and eye appointments; get the house put together so we can come home and get some rest next week; annnnnnd put our "affairs in order" (because when someone implies that they are using an ice cream scoop to surgically remove a part of you that usually takes care of keeping affairs in order - it just seemed prudent).
In addition, Rico isn't allowed to drive. I mean technically he is allowed to drive, legally he's allowed to drive, but since the first sign most people have of brain abnormalities is a seizure, we've delegated him to passenger for the time being. This means every appointment, activity, trip to the bank, grocery outing needs to be chauffered.
Needless to say, we're rarely in a place we we can answer a phone call.
Anyway, we are grateful to all of you - for the homemade jam, the flowers, the paper cranes, the box of good luck charms, the texts, the messages and the love - allllll of the love.
We are the luckiest because we have each other and we have you.
