Waikoloa

There are so many adventures that is not much time to write them all down.

Typically we are road tripping and I have plenty of car time to process each adventure, but here we are in and out of lagoons, chasing geckos, applying sunscreen, swimming with sea turtles, eels and dolphins and frolicking with wild goats and ducks in our backyard. The  only cruddy part about this trip, is that we’re all going to need new bucket lists by the end of it.

The big kids and Rico have been devouring fresh fish and pokè bowls, while Tiny and I prefer swimming with the with sea creatures.

Most of us are fans of lagoons, but Tiny loves the waves, so yesterday we spent an hour at Hãpuna Beach State Park.

While Noah stayed back to swim in the  pool and sip pina colada smoothies, the rest of us drove to Anuenue Ice Cream and Shave Ice. Supposedly it’s the best on the Island, which means we had to wait in line for 30 minutes in 100 degree heat.
Noah clearly made the wiser choice here.
It wasn't bad, but honestly, how many recipes can there be for frozen water and syrup? And how many flavors did the family in front of us have to sample before they finally decided on mint chocolate chip, with watermelon and bubble gum. (WTH?). Tiny went for rainbow, and the rest of us stuck to mango, pineapple and pina colada.

Swam with a dolphin this morning. Yes, I did have reservations about the whole “animals for entertainment” thing. After some research, I was able to do this with a clear conscience, and the kids said it was possibly the highlight of their lives.

More lagoon snorkeling and paddle boarding where Kooka has named the coppery sea turtle “Best Friend”.

Ukulele playing and more poké bowls and some little donut-y thing that I must remember the name of because it was incredible, for lunch.

A trip to Costco, because after spending way too much money on food, a $6.00 chicken dinner seems like a wise decision.
