Bobbing along
Life has been bobbing along.
Kooka passed her drivers test, which is both a blessing and a curse. As the most active of our kids, her ability to get herself around town cuts Rico and I a much needed break. On the flip side, as the most active of our kids, those car rides were moments of connection for us, a chance to catch up, a time to reflect on whatās going on in her life, and I will miss that time tremendously. Sheās also finishing up a role in Our Town, and still heading to weekly rehearsals in St. Paul for her upcoming holiday show.
Punk voted for the first time ever - which is pretty incredible for him. This is the kid whoās so laid back, he doesnāt even bother to vote when weāre deciding between the drive through Wendyās or Taco Johns - how the hell he decided on a fifth district circuit court judge is beyond me. He did however, remember which senator helped his grandpa out in the VA, and no way was he was gonna let that favor go unrequited.
Tiny voted too, and sheās bossy. Itās one thing to take a selectively mute, illiterate toddler to the polls with you. Itās quite another to have an inquisitive third grader announcing to everyone within earshot, āYou should be voting for Susan Jones! Does that other lady even care about the environment? Winter Thompson sounds like a Catās name! You want a cat in Congress?! Write dadās name in for sheriff - boy would he be surprised!ā
So much for secret ballots.
Rico begins radiation and his last round of chemo next week. As much as the time off has been healing for our souls, it will feel good to be actually doing something to get this out of his system. His eyelashes are thinner, but his spirits are great, and weāve been cherishing our time together throughout all of this busyness.
Surgery scheduled for December third. In the meantime, we keep jamming. Weāll keep you posted.
