grrrr

In Punk's school planner, it says that every child is entitled to a free public education.

Why then, have I dropped over $400 in school and field trip fees in under a week?

WTH is free about that?

Homeschooling was a notebook, a pencil, and a library card.  Total cost 86 cents.  If we splurged for annual memberships to the zoo, and science museum, as well as art class - it was still under 200 bucks. Grrrrrrr.

I hear you...it's brutal. We have underfunded our schools to the point that the expenses are passed on to parents under the guise of "fees".

Yeah - it's random too. Like Punk's field trip to the orpheum is $5.00 which includes bus transportation. Kooka's field trip to the compost center cost $13 - and I had to drive her AND five of her classmates.

The art curriculum in Detroit Lakes is taught by parent volunteers, supplies come from grants. We teach one lesson a month, a slide show and project. It's a neat curriculum, but sad that art is so limited here.
