well $h!+

A baseball is about 8 centimeters in diameter.

It's the exact same size as what they found in Rico this week.

So we have a few answers, but dammit they were not the ones we wanted.

They'll biopsy it tomorrow, but for now, his physician at Mayo says he's 99.9% certain it's intramuscular lymphoma.

We've tried to keep pretty quiet about it, mostly because we know everyone has stuff in their life, partly because we have no definitive diagnosis, and a tiny bit because we just aren't ready to hear the rest of the world talk to us in that same high pitched voice that the oncology receptionist used when she said, "I am so, so sorry."

We're not ready for sorry.

Team Rico: Kicking butts and taking names. Undefeated. Strongest team ever. Watch out, cancer...you don't stand a chance. Hugs and love. Text me when I can do something: kids, dog, driving, appointments, errands, etc. My calendar is pretty open in the next few weeks. I'm here for you. xo

Well crap indeed. Hard to believe they didn't see anything until it got this size. Go kick it's ass!

Damn, I wish we were closer.

I was so hopeful for the tooth thing. It was just crazy enough to be true.

I'm thankful for an answer. But did it have to be this answer! Not fair. We'll be rooting for Rick.

So sorry to hear this news. You all are in our prayers.

I was rooting for the tooth too Ed. New theory is that perhaps the tooth got infected because his body was working so hard to fight the other stuff. Though he feels no mass in his leg at all - no pain - nothing, so it was a pretty big surprise. Thank you all for your support.

Jana, CANNOT.EVEN.IMAGINE. My friends hubby was just at Mayo Monday and Tuesday for more tests - he too has them stumped and will hopefully find out by next Tuesday the results. If only the "C" word was not an option for anyone. You - you have been through more than any one person should have to go through the last few years and I'm sorry you are still having shitty bumps on a shitty road - and I know you don't feel that way because you think of all the blessings you do have. You have a way of lifting everyone up around you. I admire that so. But please take care of you. I pray and hope and wish that Rico overcomes the "C" word and the road becomes more bearable - one where you can breath, not be so stressed, and be on a road with normal life bumps (not the shitty ones).

Thanks for the love Rachelle - we need it right now. As far as your friend goes - if they're really stumped, I'd advise the PET scan. Rico has had every test created - all above the waist. Until they scanned his whole body nobody had a clue where this thing was.
